I had the absolute worst experience at Tulum Diving Center. The owners were rude and unprofessional, not to mention racist, and they clearly had no interest in making sure their customers were satisfied. They charged me an outrageous amount of money for a diving excursion that turned out to be a complete disaster. The equipment was old and malfunctioning, and the instructors were unhelpful and dismissive. I even saw some of them drinking on the job!
We were there with our son on vacation (we are a white couple like the owners, but our son is adopted from Sudan) and whenever the instructors/owners were talking amongst themselves I could hear them using racial slurs towards black people. They didn't think I knew because they were speaking in spanish, but I use to be a spanish tutor in college so I understood every word. I chose not to bring it up because my son couldn't understand them and I didn't want to ruin his experience. Looking back on it we should have walked away before ever getting in the water.
It was clear that safety was not a priority for this establishment. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from Tulum Diving Center. They are nothing but a bunch of crooks who will rip you off and put your life in danger.
