TravelDmart Travel Dmart LLC called to upgrade seating with American Airlines. Mistakenly call this number and they acted as if they were American. Overcharged and when my flight was cancelled they have contested by dispute on my credit card. Torrance California

TravelDmart or Travel Dmart LLC has a website that shows their place of business is in Torrance, Los Angeles County, CA. The California Secretary of State shows no such business entity registered, and Los Angeles County Recorder's Office shows no registered fictitious business name.  In my opinion this company is not authorized to do business in California.

My wife and I had a travel package that included flights with American Airlines (AA). The day before I thought it would be nice to upgrade if possible. I did a quick search for AA reservations, and not paying close attention the first listing showed reservations. I should have known there was something "afoot" when they answered the phone immediately. The connection was poor. I asked if this was AA reservations. After I requested that the person speak up as I could barely hear, I asked again and the response was yes, reservations how can I assist. After giving my reservation information I was told that Premium seating was available but no other upgrade. I took the offer. The second clue was that I was informed that two charges would appear on my credit card statement. I asked why and was told one for taxes and fees, and the other for the upgrade. After the call, my brain kept saying this is dubious. I looked up AA again and call a different number. True to form I had to wait for about 10 minutes for an agent to come on the line. After giving the story I was told that the seat upgrade had been made, but the price charged was 5 times their rate. She contacted her "feedback desk" (same as fraud) who reported that while people are frequently sold fraudulent tickets, this was the first time they had seen a "scam" for a seating upgrade. Further security was put on my reservation.

I called my Costco CitiBank fraud department to cancel the charge. They advised that the charges were not showing yet, but in any event, they could not be canceled only disputed within the next 6 months.

The following day due to icy conditions our flight was canceled along with the seat upgrade. We rebooked, but there was no Premium seating available.

I did in fact dispute the charges. AA did not contest. CitiBank at first denied the dispute with TravelDmart. I sent a lengthy explanation as to why this has to be approved--fraud and did not get what was paid for--no seating upgrade.

TravelDmart sent in a response saying we bought airline tickets. False! We purchased an upgrade believing we were dealing with AA, not some middleman who has no authority to conduct business in California.

After I saw the response, I sent in a reply with the investigation I conducted with the Secretary of State and the County of Los Angeles. The listed address for TravelDmart in Torrance shows as a multifamily building, not a commercial one.

Beware of this company.
