I was a customer of Total merchant services (global payments inc) for 10 years.  When I found that I was paying at least 30% higher rates than similar available services I decided it was time to cancel my business with Total Merchant Services and go elsewhere.
 
They informed me that they would charge me a $95 ‘early’ cancelation fee. When I asked how there could an early cancelation fee after 10 years of service they said they created a NEW contract every year and that I could only cancel on the same month that I originally signed up or there would be a fee. I asked for a copy of this new contract but was refused.
 
I do have the original signed contract that makes no mention of a cancellation fee or a NEW contract being issued each year.  I certainly never received any notice of any kind that this was occurring and never asked to sign or approve any of these renewals. 
 
So after knowingly charging me much higher rates than the industry standard for many years, charging me non-compliance fees for new rules they did not inform me about, charging me no-use fees, they still had no problem charging me a penalty because I wanted to leave.
 
It is hard to believe that they are still in business in this highly competitive arena of credit card services with such poor customer service.  FYI my new service is 37% less with a flat $12 service fee, no contract, and a lot more graphic and analysis tools with no other hidden fees. Do really don’t want this company as your ‘partner for life’!!
