Like many others, I was surprised when I found a charge for $19.95 on my phone bill from a company, Sure Connection, known to neither me nor my husband. Here's how the scam works, according to Diana, the slimeball company's customer service representative. The "Sure Connection offer" is placed within a "Fill out a survey to win" contest. The "survey" prompts you to enter a "security question" and other information and, I assume, is buried in the midst of several other survey pages. Unless you are paying close attention, you could sign up for this stupid service and not know it.

Someone filed a complaint at the FCC, but because the person had filled out the survey with a "security question" and other pertinent info that gives the illusion that the person set up an account, the FCC dismissed the complaint.

This company is good. They are thieves, but good at their job, which is ripping off hard-working people.

To top it all off, we already subscribe to AT&T Long Distance service. Why would we subscribe to both? Oh, that's right, we didn't subscribe, but were scammed.
