I went online to Super 8.com on July 29 and booked 1 room, nonsmoking, with a king sized bed for four nights with a check-in date of 08/09 and a check-out date of 08/13 at the Super 8 off of I-45 in La Marque, TX. Our travel plans changed so that same afternoon, July 29, I went back to Super 8.com and cancelled the reservation. On Saturday August 10, I checked my account and discovered I had been charged $316.40, the full cost of the cancelled stay. I contacted the local property by phone, and was told that I had been billed for the full stay due to a no-show. After researching Super 8's cancellation policy, I called the property back and advised them that per their own policies, they were entitled to at most $70+tax, the cost of one night's stay. They then proceeded to tell me that I had booked three rooms instead of just one and that the $316.40 charge was for a one night cancellation fee for each of them. That, however, only adds up to $237.30 with tax. I called the Super 8 Corporate office and they said it is a locally owned property and to deal with them. On Sunday, August 11, my brother, I and our spouses drove the 4 hours from my home in East Texas to the local property in La Marque in an attempt to resolve the issue in person. We were told by a clerk named Sashi, and I quote, "Get the f**k out of my hotel or I am calling the police". In an effort to avoid potential legal trouble with the local police, we opted to leave. Its been 12 days with dozens of phone calls and I am still out the money!
