We saw the ad for Sawbuck on the net calling it a "Vacation Paradise in the Smokies". Hah!!! It was supposed to be a beautiful cabin in the woods with a farmhouse view.

The cabin cost $525 for a week with a $100 security deposit and $50 pet fee. The thing that sounded best to us was that we could bring our dog with us on vacation. We drove 14 hours on Labor Day weekend. When we arrived, my wife started crying when we drove up the driveway. The driveway was about 100 yards surrounded by weeds up to the middle of the windows and was only accesable by 4x4. There were weeds EVERYWHERE!! You couldnt even walk around outside if you wanted to. Oh, and that supposed farmhouse view from the front porch was an old delapadated building with who knows what living in it. A note on the fridge said to ALWAYS wear bug repellent because of jiggers and ticks (Yeah, thats appealing). The front door was COVERED with mosquitos in broad daylight. The screens for the windows were hand made and didnt even fit. There were 1 inch gaps in every window. She had every window open and all of the ceiling fans on high, and the place still stunk.

We stayed for 10 minutes and then turned around and left to go on the road again. When we spoke to the owner Ollie Jayne OToole and told her we wanted our money back she said no, it was against policy. She said she would send us our $100 security deposit back.

The brochures say that the security will be returned after 15 days from departure. Well, its been 32 days from when we were SUPPOSED to leave (had we stayed) and we still havent seen a dime. You would think she would at least have the decency to also return the $50 pet fee, since we only stayed 10 minutes, but tought luck. We just want to warn people to beware of "Paradaise in the Smokies". Thanks for listening!!!!
