I was in Texas after Hurricane Harvey and vehicle was submerged in bayou. Geico declared vehicle a total loss and paid $6,638.24, as their part of insurance. I contacted Safe-Guard and intiated my GAP claim, giving documentation as recommended by American Credit Acceptance (ACA), my finance company. After waiting to submit documents, I contacted Safe-Guard and was informed my claim was approved and the benefit amount was $483.44. When I challenged that amount, since I had a balance left with ACA for $3487.80, I was told by Camille that amount was based on a different valuation of the vehicle. She said they were not liable for the balance, or GAP, and that was the whole reason I purchased gap insurance. So there is a balance left on the loan they are saying they will not pay!?! That is the purpose of GAP insurance!

I am following up with ACA to try to resolve this and have the claim reviewed but based on many (just seach for FRAUD claims with Safe-Guard), I am not holding my breath. Why would someone purchase GAP insurance to cover the gap on the loan if it wasn't going to be paid. Total frauds...and I am very upset and unhappy with how this is playing out so far and I am going to pursue as many means as possible to get Safe-Guard to pay what is owed on the loan since that was the intent of purchasing this when buying my car.
