Riding lawnmower engine extremely loud !!!

I own a MURRAY 42in. riding lawn mower (model 42504x99a) with a TECUMSEH Enduro 17hp overhead valve engine (model OHV17)installed. This is an extremely noisy engine when running at mowing speeds. If you are looking for a quiet running egine, I do not recommend this one.

Have someone that works on small engines look at the muffler. It maybe defective or the wrong size.
