My car is held hostage!

My transmission failed in my 93 Suburu, on my way to
conduct a wedding rehearsal. I had it towed to Rhino Transmissions. They worked on it and I paid them $2301.00 on Friday, July 2nd. And drove it home.

It was making a strange noise so I took it back on Tuesday, July
6th. Mr. Nunn said it was a wheel bearing but a mechanic friend of mine disputed and said the shims and pinions were not installed correctly. I relayed this to Mr. Nunn and he then told me it was a metal plate covering the rear differential which telegraphed the noise so that it appeared to come from the front.

I then had my mechanic friend listen to it again and it said that was not true, that it needed to be redone. I have taken the car to Rhino on a daily basis having been told they would get to it and every evening I walked from my office to Rhino and was told they couldnt get to it and that they would do so the following day.

I would then drive the car home and return it the following morning between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Mr. Nunns mechanics told me they couldnt work on it until Mr. Nunn gave the order. He kept putting other jobs before me and thus not honoring his statements and the 12-month warranty. This went on until the 21st of July, when Mr. Nunn asked me to park it in front of the hoist and said they would begin working on it.

I then rented a car from Enterprise since I needed to drive my wife who is battling cancer, to the doctor and to keep my appointments as well. We are 76 years old and know nothing about cars. I am a retired clergyman on Social Security. I help my son with data entry in an office next to Rhino Transmission.

They started work on the car again but upon testing it found they had installed the wrong parts, those for a 2-wheel drive instead of all-wheel. They then assured me it would be done by the end of the week. It was not, they kept putting other jobs ahead of mine. Mr. Nunn went to Las Vegas and his mechanics told me they would get it done while he was gone because they could not work on it until he gave the order but that since he was gone they would begin the work themselves. They didnt.

On his return Mr. Nunn promised again to have it ready . He has not repaired my car and refuses to my car rental costs which rise daily. I told him I didnt think he knew how to repair it which he insisted he did. He also said the law gives him thirty days to make the necessary repairs.

I notified the Better Business Bureau and they contacted Rhino
Transmissions twice without any response. I contacted ATRA, the
American Transmissions Repair Association to which Rhino belongs
and they said they could do nothing at this time. They have
contacted him twice as well and he tells them they keep sending him the wrong parts. (He and his mechanic go to some place downtown to get parts.) I was promised it would be ready today but it hasnt been touched. It is now two months since I took it to Rhino Transmissions
