Over the past 3+ years, I have been getting calls and letters from LVNV for a debt that was supposedly taken care of. The company that sold LVNV the debt has since closed and liquidated. I did what the parent company asked, but I guess it was not passed along. I provided LVNV the information and that keeps them quiet for about 6 months. They contact me again, and I give them the information again and it shuts them up.

Things have been quiet until a month ago, when I get a letter and phone call from Resurgent Capital Services about a debt that is over 10 years old. They told me that they can still collect on the debt, but what collection agency would? I have a friend that works for one and its not worth the companies time and effort and cost to go after something that old. I expressed that to them and stated for them to not contact me again.

A few days later, i get a letter in the mail from Resurgent as well as my phone ringing later that day, I answer and nobody is there. I call the number back and it was Resurgent. I told them that LVNV has a cease and desist notification, but of course it never can be found. So, I got a fax number from the Resurgent Representative and faxed them a new cease and desist letter. In the letter I put a statement in there that if anybody from Resurgent, LVNV or any other collection agency contacts me again about the origional debt, other then telling me that they will not be contacting me again, will be considered harrassment and I will file a complaint with the FTC, State Attorney Generals office as well as seeking legal counsel.

I never heard back from Resurgent until I get a phone call on 7-11-2013. Again, the auto-transfer didnt work. I called the number back and the man answered the phone. He asked my name after i asked him "who are you? why are  you calling me?" After providing the requested information, he gave me the mini-miranda, but never said who he was working for, other then he was callling about a debt that Resurgent passed along to them for the debt supposedly owed to the parent company.

I informed him of the cease and desist letter, and asked to speak to his supervisor because he still attempted to collect on the debt. The supervisor found the cease and desist letter and said they would send it back to Resurgence. But that was not before her telling me that Resurgence will probably sell it off to another company who will attempt to collect again.

Some of these "bottom feeder" collection agencies sure are trying hard. They dont seem to understand that not everybody has a job. With my last go around, i told him that I could pay, if i had a job, but I dont. He went into the routine of "how do you pay your normal bills," of which I told him it was none of his business.
