Complaint Review: Providian Visa

I have never owned a credit card, but when i tried to apply for a loan, i was denied. and when i checked my credit report, it showed that i owed a balance of $4,900 to a credit card company called providian. They supposedly give credit cards to people with bad credit, so they can get their credit back on track. I have never applied for a card through them, or any other credit card company.

So, i called the toll free number that was provided on my credit report. I gave the woman, whom i spoke to from providian all the information she needed to check her files. According to providian, there is nothing in their database, or in their files about me owing anything. so i explained to her about the balance on my report. I was told to file a dispute with the company, so i did. Well i never heard anything from them.

So again, i called and got the same thing, They have never heard of me, so again, i filed a complaint, and again heard nothing. Now i did this several times and still heard nothing from them. I don't know what else to do at this point. I can't afford to hire a lawyer, but i need this wiped off my credit report. Any help right now would be great.
