To anyone considering or currently a member of PrivacyGuard:

They share (sell) your personal information with non-affilitaed their parties. In the very plain and small "Privacy Policy Notification for your Credit Monitoring Service" pamphlet in the "Sharing of personal Information with Non-Affiliates." Section they state:

"We may also share Personal Information with (X) unaffilated third parties, including marketing partners, printers, billing agents, insurance companies, administrators and service providers, that assist us in performing our business functions and marketing our products, and otherwise permitted or required by law, and (Y) unaffiliated third parties providing services under a joint marketing agreement between us and one or more other financial institutions; in any such case, we will reqire such third parties to maintain the confidentiality of Personal Information disclosed to them."

It seems a little fishy that a company dedicated to gurading you privacy will sell your personal information to marketers not affiliated with them. What is worse is that you do not know that they will do this untill you recieve your package two to three weeks after you sign up with them.

The Privacy Policy Notification pamphlet does contain a card you can fill out and send in to opt out of their sharing, but by the time you get it you've been in their system for three weeks.

I am going to get my opt out card in the mail today and call them to cancel my membership immediatly following that.

They did give me my credit report for a dollar and they have not billed me in an unclean way but I feel betrayed by the fact that a company that calls themselves PrivacyGuard will sell my personal information to "...assist us in performing our business functions...".
