We bought a 51" Philips projection TV in March 2005 for $1074. Less than a month later, it was replaced due to a bad picture tube. That should have been a warning that Phiilips products have a short life span. Now, 3 1/2 yrs. later the repairman says the cost to replace Convergence Ics and change Hv fluid because of algae is $550-$600. We're fully aware the warranty is expired but still feel Philips should come to a resolution with us. We can't afford to simply go out & buy another tv and it's not feasible to pay $600 to repair after a mere 3 1/2 yrs. I've e-mailed, written to their corporate office, faxed, and phoned many times to no avail. Their trademark response is "you'll hear from someone within 48 hrs." That never happens. It's frustrating and time consuming to continue inquests that go unheeded. I've come to believe their ploy is to ignore you so you'll just go away. The repairman said he'd had 50 with the same issue. It makes me wonder how many more are out there. I inquired about a recall, again, to no avail. I can't donate to a charitable organization because they don't want to invest $600 so I'm left with a tv I can't use or even give as a tax donation. Philips should be ashamed of their zero tolerance towards customers and their complaints. There is no reason I would EVER buy a Philips product again. I'm left to ponder--- Is it Philips products or customer service that stink worse?
