Complaint Review: Pet Garden

Not only is this business unprofessional and incredibly rude, they are placing very sick puppies, baiting and switching puppies and they are very clearly a puppy mill/importer/broker. They do not raise these dogs- the photos you see come from another breeder in another country. The dogs come in and these horrible people don’t care for them- the dog we got was malnourished and had a severe cold that had clearly gone unattended and she was filthy and covered in her own feces from head to toe on top of being emotionally traumatized (she was scared to death).

On March 10, 2019 we contacted pet garden to see if a puppy nicknamed "Killy” was available and we were told yes and we received a video of her. We live in Las Vegas and the breeder is in Sacramento so we made flight arrangements to fly out the very next day to get her. The "breeder” told us it would be a $120 charge to bring her to the airport (which I feel most breeders offer to do for free but whatever).

We paid $550 for airfare and a pet ticket and I left the next morning. The breeder was over an hour late (good thing I had a really long layover) and when he arrives, he has the wrong dog. I asked for Killy and he clearly brought me a dog called "Keeby” on their website (photos attached). Not only was she the wrong dog, she had a snotty nose and her eyes were all infected and she was covered from top to bottom in feces.

I stated this was not the dog I asked for and was immediately met with aggression from the breeder- yelling and not letting me get a word in and telling me that I was crazy that this was the same dog. I’m not stupid- this was not the same dog. He stated that the color had changed (lol- who knew that was possible overnight or at all). This dog clearly had a white spot on her muzzle while the other one that I had wanted didn’t.

Color can fill in on a muzzle but I’ve never known it to disappear. I asked if he could get the correct dog that I flew out for. It could be an honest mistake but his reaction told me it was very intentional. He stated that all the dogs are the same and I should just be happy to take one home. Never apologizing or acknowledging the mistake. I even offered to rent a car and drive out to his house to get the correct dog.

This resulted in him yelling at me, getting in his car and driving away. I called him back because to be honest I felt bad for the dog and I paid all of this money to come out and get a puppy and I didn’t want to come home without one. He came back, I paid him and he left. I called my girlfriend (who is a former bulldog breeder) and she gave him a call and let him know that this wasn’t good business and he needed to bring the right dog out or we would have to make any potential buyers aware of what they are getting themselves into.

His response was "shoot your best shot” so here we are- I wanted to surprise my girlfriend and I wasn’t aware of what to look for in a breeder and needless to say after my girl found out I got an earful so I know mistakes were made on my part in choosing this breeder now but I just wanted to let any other first time buyers or anyone considering a puppy from this place know what the deal is. After letting my girlfriend speak with the breeder she said they are classic importers/brokers.

They don’t advertise that on their website so right off the bat they are being dishonest. The dogs they get are not cared for after they arrive and you may not even get the dog you paid for. This puppy can’t breath because it’s so congested and she’s so dirty I am giving her a bath in the airport bathroom. Do not make the same mistake as I did- do not allow these animal abusers to stay in business. I am posting proof of these exchanges between the breeder and my girlfriend as well as photos of sites allow. If not allowed, anyone is welcome to contact me for proof.
