Property search and theft at Pep Boys in Hackettstown:

I recently took my car for an oil change at the Hackettstown, NJ Pep Boys auto shop on rte 46. This was my first experience of them doing any work on my car. They did the job fine and with in estimated time however, someone, searched the whole car for valuables and things of importance in the car. When you are waiting for the service to complete the oil job is done in a separate area without customers access to it. I had some emergency money, not significant $20 in the middle console but most important a handicap placard for my wife who has a prosthesis on her leg and patient of Blood Cancer. Next morning when we reached NY for her treatment the handicap placard was missing along with the emergency money. I called the manager/owner of the franchise Dimitry and informed of this with my concern of the placard as getting a new one is a hassle, you have to go to the Dr and get the new form filled signed and than take it to the MV office. Manager promised me that he will look into and call me back on it asap. It has been more than 2 weeks and he never called me back nor answers my phone call any more. I would just make all people aware of this Pep Boys franchise and advise everybody to take your personal belongings and important things out of the vehicle before leaving for service even if you wait for it. I would not go the this franchise nor recommend them to anyone. This just is my opinion.
