On 09/27/2015 I arrived at a local Palm Beach Tanning location to cancel my membership. I was told that I had missed the cut off date which was the close of business of the 25th and that I would be billed for the following month. I was told there was nothing that could be done about this.

Once I discovered the charge on my bank statement, I contacted the corporate office and was sent to the voicemail. My call was returned on 10/12/2015 by Kristin with the corporate office. I explained to Kristin that I missed the cut off date to cancel my membership by less than 48 hours and that while I understood the policy, I asked for them to consider a refund as I arrived at their location as quickly as I possibly could. Your company does not allow you to cancel by phone. You must arrive in person.

Unfortunately, arriving in person was hardly an option for me. Beginning 09/24/2015 and continuously over the following days, I was the victim of numerous crimes by a very scary and violent person. This was an incredibly difficult and scary time for me. My life is still not the same and I am struggling to pick up the pieces.

To say that my life has been difficult since 09/24/2015 is a great understatement. Given the fact that I missed the deadline by less than 48 hours due to injuries and dealing with the police and trying to stay safe, and the fact that I was not actually using the services they were billing me for, I thought the company would understand enough to refund the following month.

Kristin informed me that she would not be able to issue a refund. I finally broke down and told her what I went through and the reason I simply could not make it to the store location by the 25th. I spent hours with the police, and during one follow up with the police I was at the magistrate's office until 2:20AM. Kristin informed me that she would speak with her manager and get back with me.

Today I received a return call from Kristin. She informed me that she spoke to the District Manager, Michelle Tiedemann about my situation and that she was not willing to issue a refund.

I am greatly dissatisfied with this company. The message this company is sending is not something I will support or will recommend others to support. October is Domestic Violence month. I believe anyone who is a victim of a crime which prevents them from physically arriving to their location to cancel a membership should absolutely be given consideration.

A good company does not treat their customers like this. I will never give them my business again.

$32.99 was not worth the emotional turmoil of having to explain my terrible circumstances which are extremely painful, only to be met by people who truly do not care about their customers or victims of domestic violence.

Yours very truly,

Disappointed
