Complaint Review: Overstock

Overstock Sold me a knock off Baume & Mercier watch which broke after 6 weeks and are refusing to refund my money. They told me they would make an exception if I sent it back in new condition, which it was cosmetically perfect when I sent it. They damaged the watch in their warehouse to get out of refunding me and said that I sent it to them "with heavy wear and tear". Now they have BOTH my watch and my money! Internet

I bought a Baume & Mercier watch from Overstock in July 2018. I called them to verify that this watch was authentic, not refurbished and perfectly new in the box. I was assured that this was 100% authentic and brand new. I received the watch 2 weeks later and it did not have a certificate of authenticity. I called Baume & Mercier direct to try and authenticate the watch form the serial number on the back. They could not authenticate it and asked who I purchesed the watch from. I told them it was Overstock and they said they are not authorized distributors so it would not be a new watch. I called Overstock telling them my concerns as the watch was a little off in color from the picture. Overstock said they will look into it and sent me a card. This card had an address on it, soo I called Baume & Mercier and they said they have no authorized distributors at that address and could not guarantee the watch's authenticity. I did like the watch and I got a great deal, which should have been my first red flag (I paid $1350 for a $3650 retail priced watch).

After a little over 3 weeks, the watch lost almost an hour overnight. It was on a weekend ad they are closed over the weekends, so I was going to call on Monday. Ove rhte same weekedn, the watch lost 2 hours overnight. I called that Monday morning and was very upset, but luckily I had paid for the 3 year warranty. I told them that after the authentication issue and now after a little over a month, that I just wanted a refund, I did not feel the watch was authentic and even if it was, it was not new. An almost $4,000 watch does not break after 6 weeks.

I finally spoke with someone, after several days who told me that she would make a one time exception and refund my money if I returned the watch. I sent it back , in the box which perfectly protected the wath. I also used hte special cloth to make it nice and shiny, iy looked brand spanking new!

I called the following week after I saw they received it and I had not heard anything and I was told that they need to inspect the watch. I did not hear back for over a week. I then received an emaail about 8 days later, almost 2 weeks after they received my watch saying the warehouse said it had heavy wear and tear and they would not refund me. She sent me pictures and I was livid as the watch was scratched on both sides of the metal band and front and back of the face of the watch, like it had been dragged over rocks.

I have repeatedly tried to speak to someone with any authority and it has been almost 4 weeks that they have my watch and will not issue me a refund! I am beyond furious that they intentionally damaged my watch in order to not refund me since it was after 30 days.

I do not believe the watch is authentic and the slight chance it is , it was defintiely not new, it was a return or refurbished. All I want is what I was told I would have is my money back. The watch was returned in perfect condition. So now, I have no watch and no money. They say they do not know when it can be repaired.

Do NOT buy from Overstock! They do not stand behind their products and are unethical to the point of damagin the merchandise just so not to refund a purchase. I bought a few other items form them and returned several as they were of such poor quality. Luckily they were in the package still and within a few days of receiving them.

Overstock sells knockoff items! Overstock damages goods as to avoid a refund! BEWARE!!!

PLEASE look at the pictures of this watch. I am a 50 year old Forensic CPA with a herniated disc; in other words, I work at a desk all day and do no physical activity. In the 3 or so weeks I had this watch, it is impossible to not only scratch the front of this watch in this manner BUT HOW COULD I DESTROY THE BACK OF THE WATCH when I wear it or it is in its box at night? It is not even possible. Nor would I have treated a luxury watch like that. The photos are shocking and the fact that they did that to the watch adn want to blame it on me and return me a watch in worse shape than when I returned it is REPREHENSIBLE!
