I bought a brand new 2005 Mercury Mountaineer in January. Had the oil changed in April 2005 with 685 miles on it.

In October, noticed oil spots on my driveway with only 1594 miles on it. They cleaned the undercarriage due from last oil change. They also replaced both rear window motors and glass latch.

In November, I had more oil leaks on my driveway. I had 1710 miles on it. They added dye and they pinpointed and tighten rear oil pan bolts.

In December, more oil leaks on my driveway. I had 2256 miles on it. They added dye and found that the rear main seal was deformed. They removed trans and replace main seal.

In February 2006, check transmission flashing in display window and OD lamp was flashing. The problem was loose pin harness. Also complained about suspension noise in left rear and body shifting. Also I complained about A/C compressor making noise when first engaged. They put no problem found.

If they couldn't find an oil leak the first time it went in the shop especially when they added dye, how can I be sure that any of my other issues were even addressed. What mechanic do you know that can't find an oil leak? I personally like the first excuse. The oil stuck to the bottom of my SUV for 6 months and then decided to fall to my driveway. Can you trust a dealership who gives you excuses like this?
