After the expiration of my low "teaser rate", North American doubled my electricity rate without my agreement to a new rate (rate increased from 6.89 to 13.49 per kwh). North American Power should not be allowed to increase electricity rates without the consumers agreement. Consumers should be aware of how North American Power operates. My electricity bills have skyrocketed. Due to the rate increase I have paid $520 MORE over three months than I would have if they did not increase my rate. There are likely tens of thousands of consumers in similar circumstances which is resulting in millions of dollars of profit for North American Power generated by this unfair business practice.

When I finally noticed the increase and complained, North American said "they sent a letter" that my old rate was expiring. I never saw the letter that they are referring to. Who would agree to an electrical rate that is double what they were paying? North American should be required to have the consumer accept the new rate. They should not have the ability to simply double the rate, which is very hard to see on a complicated electricity bill. There are many different charges on an electricity bill (transmission, Distr Chrg, Electric Sys Improvements, etc, etc). When I called North American to complain about the increase they said they would not make any adjustments. This is highway robbery! It is a dishonest business practice. North American should not have the right to operate in this manner.

Look again, it’s .0689 to .1349 per KWH. You moved the decimal one position to the left when you were viewing per thousand KWH. You should have moved it three positions to the left.
