No Pool, no money
We called Eastern Manufacturing, a company based in Baltimore, to get a pool for our family. The company had been in business since before World War II. We talked to them over the phone and ordered our pool. We sent a check to pay for it and they told us we would receive the pool in 2 weeks. My husband had to call them several times because we hadn't heard anything or received our invoice. We called on January 19th, 2000, sent our check on the 21st and it was cashed on the 28th. We received our invoice late in March and still did not receive our pool.
The invoice included the pool, pool package, installation and delivery. It was a floor model from last year. We also had a excavator come out and pound out a rock in our back yard because we knew it was too big for the installers to handle. So far we have spend 3,700.00 om the pool and 1,100.00 to get the rock out.
My husband called the company yesterday and were told they went bankrupt. I talked to the women on the phone and she said she would look in stock and set up delivery if possible. I called her back later and she said they didn't have anything that we had ordered. I explained the situation and she said she would talk to the manager.
I called her today and she said we would just have to file a claim with the bankruptcy court. I have made several phone calls. The one to the lawyer was not returned and the one to the bankruptcy court said they hadn't filed yet.
Everyone I talked to said we are more or less screwed and we may not get our money back at all. I wonder how in today's society a middle class person can be so taken advantage of. The stole our money! Plain and simple. How do we get our money back so my children can have the pool they have been looking forward too. My e mail address is byesko@yahoo.com
