The DVR started messing up six months after it was installed.  The DVR would get hot and shut off and not record.  I called Night Owl and they told me I needed to reset the DVR by unplugging the unit and then waiting a bit then plugging it back in.  We started getting spotty recording soon after and I called again.  Nothing was resolved.  We continued to unplug the unit, wait, then plug it back in, we done this for the another year and a half.  Now the DVR doesn't come on at all. I contacted Night Owl today and they told me..So sorry, your warranty ran out 4 months ago, there is nothing we can do.  I feel the DVR should have been replaced six months after I purchased it.  They knew it was defective but wanted to get me past the warranty so they didn't have to do anything to cover a defective dvr.
