The Knights Inn of Bloomington, Illinois, part of a chain of motels across the mid-west, refuses to reimburse or accept responsibility for a stolen computer from a guests room.

Under normal circumstances this could be questionable, however in this case, the cleaning service hired to clean the rooms as cleaning people don't work directly for the motel, hires people without doing background investigations.

They provide room access keys to come into a guests room without breaking and entering. One of the employee's of the cleaning service and the motel came into my room in June, 1999 and stole a laptop computer and equipment valued at over $1800.00. The motel and the cleaning service both laughed it off saying they weren't responsible for stolen articles from guests rooms.

This is legalized thievery as they hired the alleged thief. The local police department has a warrant out for the alleged thief and todate the laptop computer has not been recovered, the perpetrator has not been arrested, and the motel, nor the cleaning service have made any restitution for the stolen property to the victim.

Everyone should be aware of this manner of conducting business before doing business with Knights Inns.
