I recently became eligible for a phone plan through Assurance Wireless because of a permanent disability. When I switched the service from Mint Mobile I initiated a refund request for service that started on 8/31/21 and was terminated on 9/13/21. Despite multiple refund requests, all have been denied. Their associates have told me that their "policy" is to not refund any balance after 7 days. I used the service for 13 days out of a 3 month contract and am due a pro rated amount of the $132.07 I paid for service that they are not providing, thus effectively stealing same from a disabled man simply trying to do what he can to make ends meet.

This policy of not issuing a refund after 7 days is not the practice of a legitimate business. If a service is no longer being provided a pro-rated refund is required. To not do so is at the very least an unethical practice, and at worst it is of dubious legality. This is a prime example of a company engaging in shady business practices and hiding the same behind a questionable policy. Such companies need to be brought to task.

A contract was not signed. Thus far I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Communications Commission Consumer Division, the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General of the State of California. I have not contacted an attorney; neither is court action pending. I have neither filed nor lost a lawsuit in this matter.

Mint Mobile's curt attitude, shady business practices and outright theft will be addressed by every and all means necessary. I am seeking a reasonable pro-rated refund of the amount of 132.07, whatever that might be of a three month contract minus 13 days of actual use.
