After these past two days of numerous of calls speaking with Apple's Tech Support team, I was told that all of my data on my 2017 macbook pro had been ERASED!!! There had been an older software that was unrecognizable that had been reinstalled into my computer preventing me and the support team at Apple a chance to naviagte and find the data that I'd been missing.

Initally, I was preparing to trade in my computer for a new one but had ran into an issue with my computer where it would not stay on and just load half way and then shut off by itself and reboot up again. This prevented me from being able to backup all of my data from my computer onto an external hard drive before taking it in to a repair shop to get that shutting down issue fixed. I was referred by Apple to this third party authorized provider, Mikey's Hookup who could help me with this issue due to the shutdown of Apple's retail store from the Omicron Virus.

I called Mikey's hookup to see if I need to schedule an appointment but was told they acccepted walk-ins. On January 18th, 2022, I spoke with the guy behind the counter named Frank who I explained this issue to and was told the team would first need to perform a diagonistic test to see what may have caused this and then if they could help me pull off my data for me. I was asked to put down $79 for the diagnostics test and once they found out the issue they would let me know what the final pricre would be.

When asking their team how long it would take they told me 2-3 week or maybe 3-4 weeks depending on the issue. I was told to be on the look out via email for updates about my computer and when it will be ready for pickup. 2 weeks later, I did not receive any updates via email or phone call. Instead, I called the store to check-in and see what was the status of my computer they told me it was still "being worked on".

Fast forward, on Valentines day (2/14/22) I called them again and they still was saying the same thing. They only have 4 more days until it hits the month deadline that they would have my computer for. The very next morning (2/15/2022) I randomly popped up and went into the store to ask to see my computer and what was going on with it. They tried to brush me off and make up stuff that they were doing.

Strangely throughout communciating with them, they kept saying things about erasing my data and I kept telling them NO! I did not ask nor give permission to anyone to erase anything. I was then sent an email was a list of things they claimed needed to be done with my computer and a bill of almost $600!! I denied the charges and told them I just wanted my computer back.

They told me they did not do anything but once I logged into my computer and noticed the fonts were changed completely!!! I called Apple's Tech Support team back and they noticed this software was unrecognizable. After two days of dissecting this situation, they told me all of my data had been erased and there had been a privacy violation!!!!
