Our well pump failed and Mike Kostro said he could replace it for us.  He came in, did the job, paid him cash and we THOUGHT it was taken care of.  Only 2 years later the well pump stopped working.

We got a different plumber to check it out and when he pulled the pump out, it had the date the original pump was installed when we had the house built.  The new plumber verified this.

We took Mike Kostro to court and won the case. However, he will not pay up and is ignoring my texts messages.

We also found out that he does this to many other people but they just let it go for whatever reason.

I understand mistakes

#2Author of original report

I understand mistakes can be made but when it comes to something as serious as the construction/purchase of a home, things should be checked at the very least, two times and it should not be rushed as it was. A closing should have originally been scheduled to allow enough time in case if there was an error or something that held it up.

Jersey's procedures are different than PA's. They do not use an abstract company. It is done by an attorney only and it is a state that thrives more so of course it would cost more. However, it most likely would've been done properly and there would have been a response or some kind of contact to rectify the situation if a mistake was made.

I can say that with confidence as I am a retired legal secretary and am familiar with how things work in the Jersey legal system. The documents I did were checked over and over by the attorney and me until we were confident it was correct. As the old saying goes you get what you pay for. Now that I have been here for almost 12 years, I can understand why this happened. It doesn't make it right, but I understand. It is a much more relaxed state. They have all my best wishes and hopefully this was just an isolated incident.
