Complaint Review: Monterey Homes (Pat Moroney)

I recently purchased a home from Monterey / Mertigate homes (traded under MTH on the NYSE). The experience was a complete disaster. The home was not completed as agreed, options were not installed correctly or not at all. For instance, I paid an additional $1400 for paint upgrades that were not completed.

For months, the superintendant would not respond to the requests for repairs, in fact he openly admitted that I was not getting priority because they already had my money. To top things off, one of the Monterey sales agents offered to resell the property through the Monterey sales office, but wanted me to pay cash under the table to do it.

After filing a complaint with the State Registrar of Contractors they finally started to address the issues. The property was brought up to salable condition and I sold it. However, to date they have never offered any compinsation for the options that I paid for and did not receive, nor have they reimbursed the thousands of dollars in interest and closing fees I incurred to carry the unlivable and unsalable home for their benefit.

I have made numerous attempts to work with Monterey homes to resolve this matter, but their company President Pat Moroney, would not entertain my requests to meet and discuss the matter, nor will he respond to my calls.
