Complaint Review: megaammunitionstore

megaammunitionstore Attempted to extort additional money 24 hours after the sale. Detroit Michigan

First off they don’t accept credit cards. Which immediately set an alarm going off in my head. Only Zelle, CasApp, and Bitcoin. So after setting up Zelle with my bank I decided to make the purchase. I received a sales receipt via email.

The following evening I received a text from them demanding that I pay an additional $200.00 in shipping insurance and that my order is on hold until I comply.

This of course after they’ve already received $365.00 for the ammo purchase via Zelle. I told them no one mentioned anything about insurance when I made the purchase and as far as I was concerned the transaction is complete.

They became more belligerent so I told them I’m reporting them to the bureau of consumer affairs. Below is a transcript of the chat session from the insurance payment demand, my responses are shown in red text.

Hello from Global Freight Shipping Center

Dear client,

You ordered for ammunition at Megaammunitionstore right?

Reply immediately for updates

(2/2)concerning your shipment status

Our website

https://globalfreightshippingcenter.com/

I don’t have a tracking id ?

Your package is on hold and you need to pay for insurance

Well nobody said anything about that when I placed the order.

Okay then you need to pay for $200 worth of insurance fee which is refundable upon delivery of your package

As far as I’m concerned the transaction is completed.

You need to pay for insurance

I’ll be reporting this to the state consumer board of affairs.

And posting on every known review site

This is a scam $200 insurance for a $365 purchase? That’s absurd.

Okay interesting

How do I know I’d get my $200 returned?

You'll be refunded upon delivery of your package no worries

Now I see why you don’t accept credit cards. So there’s no way to file a dispute

This is very poor business practice. There are plenty of firearms sites with conversations that can also be provided with your business practices.

You’re in Maryland?

Aah ok, 7401 3rd Ave DETROIT,

Michigan(MI), 49911

Legally I have 3 days to cancel any transaction so why not just cancel the order, refund my $365 and I’ll shop elsewhere. Frankly I don’t trust that suddenly an additional absurd amount of money is required for insurance for a single order of ammunition.

Are you even still listening?

No

Well I’m formally requesting a cancellation of the order and expect to see a refund back to my Citizens acct. via Zelle for $365.00 by tomorrow.

I’m also recording the entire transcript of this chat.

I mean really, would you trust a business that tells you a full day later than $200 worth of insurance is required for a purchase? I’ve made numerous online purchases from federal, palmetto, and the like and have never experienced anything like this. How do you justify it ?

How is it shipped? FedEx?

Like I said you need to pay for insurance and it's  refundable

That’s not what I asked.

Okay

Why wasn’t this brought to my attention immediately?

That’s two questions now I’d like answered.

No where on your website does it mention an insurance requirement. That in itself is misrepresentation.

I’m willing to pay FedEx shipping using my account  if you provide your local pickup address and forego the insurance. FedEx may require a pickup signature. Please, Take my proposal to someone who has the authority to make the decision.

Let us know when you're ready to proceed

As I stated, because I was not informed at the time of purchase of any insurance requirements, the fact that you do not accept credit cards, the fact that no where on your website does it state anything regarding insurance, add that to the fact that I’ve made numerous purchase of ammunition from various dealers and never once was any insurance required. I have no intention of handing over another $200.00 which I’d never be able to recover because the next thing I’d expect to hear is my order “fell off the truck”. Just take my proposal to someone who has the authority to make the decision on insurance waiver and using my FedEx account.

I’ve already prepared a warning statement regarding your business practices to be posted everywhere. As well as a hardcopy to send the Bureau of Consumer Affairs , including a transcript of this chat, that is after I contact them by phone and explain in detail the nature of the situation. As it’s Friday it’ll wait until Monday .

Using google earth enter the address provided on the website. You’ll see nothing but run down ghetto and empty lots. Clearly not a commercial district. Try dialing the phone # provided, hear the cannot connect generic message when provided with a non existent number.
