I have always felt confident when purchasing a Maytag product, but apparently the company has changed significantly. In 2000 we purchased a Maytag side by side refrigerator believing it would be a great product. (We purchased it through SEARS - who are also brain surgeons when it comes to servicing)

We have had continous problems: The ice-maker leaked (it was "fixed" three times before it was right), the door bins kept falling out (they sent us parts to install to hold them in), the door rubbed on the refrigerator frame everytime it closed, the covers for the floor wheels fall off all the time, the light near the ice dispenser now stays on all of the time (I took out the bulb to shut it off.) I am amazed at how many things have gone wrong with this appliance.

Because of the "amount" of problems, I contacted Maytag when the last problem (the light) happened, explaining to them my disappointment with their product and asked them to fix the light for free based on the NUMEROUS defects with this refrigerator - they declined. I am amazed that a corporation this large fails to stand behind their products. Because of their poor customer satisfaction/service, and unreliable appliances, I will never again purchase another Maytag product. Instead I bought the Whirlpool front loading washer instead of the Maytag Neptune - thank goodness because it appears Maytag is having serious problems with this product also! Good-bye Maytag!

I was just like you when we moved into out new house, about 4 years ago,we bought strictly Maytag due to a good experience 10 years ago with a dishwasher and their "good name". The problem is we bought the best maytag had Neptune washer/dryer ($1600), dishwasher ($450), and the best of all the side by side frig ($1500). The dryer is the only thing that has not been serviced. The washer has been serviced twice (it is still working). The dishwasher control board was replaced. (It is still working) The frig has been serviced twice for continually freezing items in the frig (veggies, lunch meat, and eggs). Then the ice dispensor/water dispensor had a total breakdown and is totally dead. The entire unit is done, semi-melted. Maytag wanted $100 labor plus parts which could run up to $200 more to fix it! Then the wanted to sell me product insurance to cover future breakdowns. (Wait, I have to buy insurance to protect myself from their inferior products?)Now I am finding out that this unit was under recall but mine didn't break in time so they were not going to help me. From what I understand recalls on some items do expire. When I continued to ask Maytag for help the sent me form emails saying "We always try to keep our customers satisfied" They blew me off!!! I can only add to your comment, they not only introduce sub-standard products, but they have sub-standard service. All beware!!

Three years ago, I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from Sears and have never had one problem with either one. They have been the best appliances I've ever owned. I will continue to buy Maytag products in the future.
