Over the course of these dates (03/12/15, 03/13/15, 04/01/15 and 05/20/16) I purchased gold coins, silver coins, a 10-gram gold piece and a 1 ounce gold bar totaling almost $3000. I put these in my safe deposit box at home (I live alone). With the rise in gold prices I decided to sell the 1 ounce gold bar back to Liberty Coin and Currency (LCC). It's important to note that I have never visited any other gold/silver shops and these are the only gold coins, silver coins and the only gold bar I've ever purchased. .

On Thursday January 5th, 2018 I removed the 1 ounce gold bar and took it back to LCC to redeem. It was in a sealed blister pack--exactly as purchased. They said they had to open the package to test it. I had no problem with that. Upon testing they told me it was a fake and refused to reimburse me even though I had a receipt. If they had to open the package to test before buying it from me, why was the package not opened and tested when they originally bought it? Why did they not test it in front of me BEFORE I purchased it? Their paperwork is not very complete or professional--my receipt only says, "1 oz. gold bar"--no product name as it appears on the package, no identifying numbers that might have proved it was purchased from them.

I have been accused of buying this elsewhere and trying to scam them. Nothing could be further from the truth. I purchased this in good faith and expect them to take responsibility for an oversight on the part of one of their workers. I am out $1200 (my original purchase price) plus the $100 gain I expected to realize. I am only asking to be reimbursed for my original purchase price. Because of this situation I'm now concerned about the authenticity of the other products I purchased from LCC. Through my research I have found that when there is an issue with a product or service (evaluating items) LCC becomes defensive, gives out false or misleading information, lies and as mentioned in my case accuses me of lying. It's a pattern of deceit designed to intimidate and discourage anyone from taking action.
