Ive joined (extorted) to join 2 labor unions for work: Teamsters Local 63 & UFCW Local 770: My gripes here:
o Anti Modernization anykind.
o Bias to those speaking up on contracts,
Teamsters sent exjail goon to harass me about contract at time.
o Deny members full Vocational Education Benefits, esp as IT IS jobs are in demand, need filling. CS positions up 118% alone this year & beyond.
o1933 mindset
o bureaucratic mindset
o Unwilling to adapt, change., if change, Very late.
o IF need members, one cant sign in online IF online.
o Anti Hi Tech mindset, save Defense unions, industries.
o Dues rise each year as do Raises, why?
I earn 1.00 a year for 7 years at Ralphs).
o When members begin to speak up on issues, etc Union Reps become belligerant, hostile to members.
o Couldcare less attitude toward members.
o Stack ballot boxes for Theyre choice for elections, YES Rigged elections in So CA UFCW.
o NO Lasik eye care or Alternative healthcare for Members.
o NO signs of cutting DC bureaucracy (AFL CIO, UFCW Hqs).
& we wonder the US fails to meet competition since 1980-.
Most CEOs of E Commerce companies are Chinese & E Indian.
Note price rises with Unions too.

Here is a web-site about the UFCW: www.reapinc.org
I have worked for the Kroger company many times and have been tricked into joining the union the first few times. Thankfully, Georgia has Right to Work laws that say you don't have to join. In my opinion the UFCW is kind of like your appendix. It really doesn't do anything and you can live without it but it's always been there. I have NEVER seen them do anything for employees.

I can agree somewhat on your dispute with your union. However unions are just like any company you work for, some are more competitive and better than others. Unions are only as strong as the members that serve under them. My father was a union coal miner for 26 years and he was treated very well. The safety (MSHA) admin. is far more strict within the union. Your wages are increased with seniority and safety records, you have an entire team of members fighting for increased wages, better safety standards, and to ensure that you have a job for years ahead. If you dare to disagree, than I challenge you to look at every other non-union corporation and see how they stack up to EVERY item that I have listed above.
