I brought a Roommate Vacuumed to Kohls to return for store credit. The item was a gift and I had no reciept. The item was still in the box, brand new never used. I was issued a corparate refund. 2 weeks later I contacted the refund number on the receipt, where the person on the line had asked me questions as to when where and how I paid for the item. She returned only to tell me that she could not trace the item for that time frame as being sold. Therefore without a receipt they would not issue me my refund. I said well then I wanted my merchandise back. She told me I could not have it back unless I had a receipt. This item is locked and has to be delivered to a cashier at purchase. So the idea of theft is out of the question. So why was I denied my refund and now they have taken my merchandise too?

Irobot Roomba Vacuum

This was a IRobot Vacuum. My Daughter had gifted to me. After I had told her I decided to not keep it, she couldnt locate the receipt. That was how I knew how she paid for it. Otherwise she could have just pulled up an account. And they said they had checked the time framec from the past 90 days. That's impossible it had been purchased within that 90 days. I didn't know it was a requirement to prove you purchased something when they say hassle free returns! That is the biggest lie They offer the lowest price from the past 13 weeks, if they want to. And I could understand if it had been used or missing something, but brand new in the box. It's not as if they are losing anything. They have the merchandise, the only refund credit at the lowest price, which I'm sure they paid next to nothing for it, and marked it way up. The money is still spent in kohls so they only win? I have just never heard about this before, and I will never accept a store Corp.refund. ever, and lost any trust in them for sure! Thanks for writing, appreciate it.

It seems like you are leaving some details out. I am not exactly sure what a "Roommate Vacuumed" is so not sure what you were trying to return or exactly why. Was this a Vacuum your roommate gave you?

If you didn't have the receipt why can't you get it? If it is embarrassment, I would much rather the person I gave a gift to tell me they don't want it or didn't need it and let them get something they do want/need instead of my gift going to waste. Especially since it sounds like one of the higher end vacuums since they have to keep them locked up. If it is something else then why?

You stated they said that they couldn't find any purchases in the range you gave them when you called. But if this was a gift how did you answer the question about when it was purchased and the method of payment?

You also stated that theft was out of the question. That is not exactly so. I am NOT saying that any of this applies to you but there are several things.

First, employee theft where an employee who has access takes it, gives it to another person to return. It could have been stolen from a house or car. Without a receipt there is not any proof that it was even purchased at the Kohls or how much it was bought for. Very often you only get the lowest sale price, but what if that was only $199 and the giver actually paid $299? Without a receipt there is no proof.

Hopefully this all works out for you.
