Complaint Review: Klaben Ford Inc.

Hi:Great of you to listen to peoples complaints and try to solve.
My husband and I are in our 60's, live in Cleveland, Ohio.

We bought 96 Chrysler van in Jan 98, had 56,000 miles. We were told that there was nothing wrong with it. It was nothing but trouble w/engine lite coming on, etc.so we went back to dealer and wanted him to buy it back, it had 65,000 miles on it

He said he couldnt just buy it back but would trade it in for a 96 Ford Contour, which had 21,000 miles. He said it would be an even trade. Just pay the extra taxes. Since the Ford had less miles we said ok, thought we were getting a bargain.This Ford also gave us trouble. We almost went to court trying to solve the problem. It had engine lt coming on also. We paid over $400 to fix it.Also Klaben neglected to give us the statement of the van/car switch. We were just so happy to get rid of the van we didnt look for it. However, when we did think of it,realized, it werent there.

My husband made a special trip to Klaben to get this stmt. Still we trusted Klaben Mtrs to be on the up&up. As the months went by, and the bank that held the mortgage refused to give us statments of our balance on the account, we decided to pay off the bank with a 2nd mtge from our mtge co. When we seen the payoff figure, it didnt addup. There is a $2000 pymt missing!

We asked our daughter Sun. Aug 6 2000, to compute this mystery as she is in accounting and we have been trying for months to figure this out. She noted that that Klaben gave us tradin allowance from the van of only $11,174.00. Thats a loss of more than $5,000 for 5 months of driving the van, 10,000 miles. Thats $1000 for 1,000 miles.

Have we been ripped off or what?? Please help us!
