Hewlett Packard Rebate Never Received

I purchased a new Hewlett Packard computer and monitor at CompUSA back in January 2001. I sent in the rebate, certified mail, and 3 months later they sent it back to me saying that
the package I sent out did not have a valid receipt...
They sent back all the materials, and inside was a
copy of the valid receipt!! They said I could resubmit it
and the process would be expedited.. I called them up, and they apologized profusely, but still told me to send it to the "special expedited PO BOX". I did so, and
called them back again after not hearing anything for
a month.. the person I talked to then said it was not
expedited and that the person I spoke to did not know what they were talking about... they didn't even have a record of me resubmitting the rebate!!! She said to call back in 2 weeks because it may not have been "processed"..

I am kicking myself because the second time I sent the rebate, I didn't send it certified mail.. now they can just say they never received it, but I know they did. I will update on the status of this when I call them back..

After several more calls, I was informed that they did receive my rebate resubmittal and it would be processed in the same amount of time that the original rebate would have taken... Funny that I sent them the EXACT same package they said was invalid the first time, but I guess everyone makes mistakes. I was told I was misinformed by the first CSR who told me the resubmittal process was an expedited procedure.. so it took nearly 6 months for me to get this rebate.. I am just happy I got my check for $150 yesterday.. Will I ever succumb to another rebate temptation again? Probably... It's just a royal pain in the behind.
