I joined the club on 5/21/08 and received a membership card that said the expiration date was 6/11/09. After double-checking the expiration date by phoning the agent there I was told the extension was a bonus. Everything was fine until I tried to order something on 6/6/09 and was told that my membership had expired and that the 6/11/09 date was a "mistake". The reason I didn't try sooner was because the company stopped sending me magazines in March 09, after not ordering for a number of months (I was unemployed and didn't have money to spare). I wanted to order one item at the last minute and wasn't allowed to under the discount plan.

The $42.98 Heartland America charges for their Value Club and the lack of respect by their club representatives isn't worth it. After 5 tries (the first one resulting in a sarcastic remark to my saying I would call a investigative reporter about the expiration date (to see if they would give me any respect)), I'm giving up and telling people they are probably better off using other agencies. I found that Amazon had better prices on some of the items and there's no club cost. There are other items and companies one can look for on the web without paying for a club cost that have comparable prices.
