Complaint Review: Green Dot Corp.

Green Dot Corp. GoBank They are not returning the money that was stolen from my account fraudulently in another state. Pasadena California

    Mon, January 13, 2020

I reported my card had a fraudulant charge done in another state, in which they failed to notify me on. They stated investigation would take 10 days or so, it has now been a month and they have not returned my money. I have spoken with them several times and keep getting told it's under investigation.

I have proven my identity to them and still don't have my money. The owners, CEO, and all their management need to go to prison because apparently it's a common thing with these people. My next step is to file a lawsuit but they are pissing me off so much that I would show up at their door step one of these days if they don't give me my money I've waited long enough.

You are a deadbeat with credit in the toilet who needs to use Green Dot cards. You don't own anything, or anybody. You don't eat anything for lunch that isn't provided to you by a sucker relative, friend or neighbor.

You don't come here with your underwater credit score and mouth off at anyone, loser. Now run along to the CashStop to tide you over till your next "payday." But shut up until you are financially mature, if ever.

I reported my card had a fraudulant charge done in another state, in which they failed to notify me on.   As someone already pointed out, there is no way for anyone to know it was a fraudulent charge except for maybe 2 people; you and the person who committed the fraud.  This would apply not just to debit cards but to credit cards as well.  Failure to notify therefore is not a valid complaint.

I have proof. If you think I won't sue you think again, you are supposed to be insured for these kinds of things  The proof is more or less irrelevant at this point.  You submitted it and the investigation has to be carried out.  Sometimes the investigations can take 30-60 days to figure out how things like this happened.  I mean they probably should have given you at least a provisional credit, but thye don't necessarily have to either.  And no, technically wouldn't be insured for small amounts; the deductible on their policies is generally so large that fraudulent charges for small amounts would be under any deductible amount.  For things like this, they're pretty much self-insured.

If you keep ignoring my request it will not end well for you...I would show up at their door step one of these days if they don't give me my money I've waited long enough.  Wow, mentally ill much?  Perhaps you should use your card to pay for psychiatric help?  Seriously, I mean there's a reason you use Green Dot - it's generally for people who can't have a relationship with a bank.  Anyone who uses Green Dot has no credibility anyway so coming here and leveling threats is meaningless.

Perhaps this complaint should be sent to Uber as well; I'm sure they don't need a driver with some serious anger management issues as a part of their fleet?  They have enough liability issues to deal with....

First of all the card is an Uber business debit card and I reported the incident immidiately when I found out litterally the next day, I have proof. If you think I won't sue you think again, you are supposed to be insured for these kinds of things. I have received calls in the past from my banks when someone has tried to use my account elsewhere.

You're right though you're not a real bank and therefore; I will put you out of business. There are tons of people who have experienced very similar situations; how do I know you people are not the ones stealing money? You are pathetic at best and the only way you will make me go away is by refunding me the money stolen that I worked for. If you keep ignoring my request it will not end well for you.

Not their responsibility

I reported my card had a fraudulant charge done in another state, in which they failed to notify me on.
- It is not their responsibility to notify you when your card is used. The only way ANY bank knows if a charge is not valid is when the card holder notifies them. People travel all of the time, if a bank had to verify every use of the card it would bring card usage to a hault.

How long was it before you notified them? This is a "Pre-Paid" debit card, and the longer you wait the more liability you must take for the charges. If you failed to report it within 60 days, per Federal Regulations you are 100% liable. Not that they couldn't still credit you, just that they are no longer obligated to. The bank could also deny your dispute if they feel you were negligent.

As for the time, they have up to 90 days to investigate. Since this is a Pre-Paid card you can just about guarantee that they will wait until this time to respond, and likely not in your favor.

As for suing them. Everyone here knows you won't do that. You can't even get a regular bank account, and think that it is their responsibility to tell you when there are invalid charges. But if you do sue them you would have to show where they violated law or regulation, and nothing you have posted shows that.

Good Luck
