I received a phone call from Michael Thompson of Global Trade FX.  He is very well spoken and does not seem like the typical high energy pushy stock salesperson.  His aim is to offer whatever is currently being recommended on stock projections so that you are likely to invest.

It sounded pretty good to me so I started doing some digging.  His website seems very professional unless you dig deeper.  4 offices around the world in Zurich Switzerland, San Jose Costa Rica, Tokyo Japan, and Calgary Alberta.  He claims that he is operating out of the Calgary office.  As I looked over the addresses of the offices, I noticed that they didn't appear to be complete as the Office number seemed to be missing.

I did some more google searches and found that businesses in the building had numbers in front of the address that Global Trade FX has listed.  I started to figure out that this could be a scam, and I looked up the management for the building in Calgary, and gave them a call.  I am in Edmonton Alberta, only a couple hours from Calgary.  Global Trade FX is not on the list of companies that are registerred with the Brookfield, which takes care of all the leasing for the Suncor building.

Mike Thompson gave me his number to call him back which was 403-800-5169.  After doing some searching I found that this is not a direct line, but a VOIP internet phone line.  The 403 area code sounded credible to me as it is a Calgary area code, but using the VOIP system he could be anywhere.

My first red flag was with regards to the name of the company.  There are so many other companies out there with such similar names, it was impossible to research it's legitimacy.

Michael Thompson also emailed me a photocopy of his passport (((REDACTED)))

Obviously I believe that this is not a legitimate passport, and that his name is not likely Michael Thompson.I do have the photo of the passport that I could attach, but there may be a law against that.
