Like others, I stumbled upon these rip-off reports when I was attempting to access the website for GE Capital Cons Cardco ( they don't appear to have one ). I am very surprised at what I have read here. My experience with this company is nothing like I have read in these rip-off reports.

I purchased some furniture from a locally operated store back in August of 2002 and was offered a 6 months interest-free, same-as-cash payment plan through GE credit. I did not receive my furniture for about 4-5 weeks, and, as promised, the payments did not begin until I had my merchandise.

I was moving to a new home at the time of my purchase, and both the new address as well as the old were given to the furniture store, and also to GE.

The only snafu that occured with GE was when they sent my first two bills to my old address, instead of the new, and they were delayed while being forwarded through the mail. The first statement arrived in enough time to make the payment by the due date, but the second one did not. Upon receiving my third statement, I saw that GE had added a $29.00 late fee to my bill.

I phoned GE customer service to complain and I received a little bit of flak from them at first. But after I pointed out that they were the ones sending the bill to the wrong address, and they saw that the new address was already in their computer, they admitted their mistake and immediately removed the late fee.

Furthermore, as to GE delaying posting of payments, I find that this is just not true. I mailed in the pay-off for my furniture on 2/20/03. They received it on 2/22/03. The payment was posted on 2/23/03, a Sunday, no less.

I can't explain the problems that others seem to have with GE. My only theory is that if your credit is less than exemplary, some companies will try sneaky things because they feel that you were so happy to get some credit, that you won't complain about late fees.
