I purchased a Gateway Computer June 1999 as a birthday present for myself.. The price of the computer was $999.00.. After I got the computer the keyboard had to be replaced, then the mouse stopped working, then the speakers shorted out, then the monitor stopped working.. The only thing that I did not have to replace was the CPU..... I tired talking to them, but I only had a 1 year warranty..

Forget about trying to run Windows 98 on it, it takes forever for it to decide what is wants to do. I wanted to sell the computer for like $100.00, but I was told that it was against the law for me to do it..

Right now my mom has the computer and it is sitting their collecting dust. The funny thing is that everything stopped working after the warranty expired.. I now owe a balance of $2,100 dollars for a $999.00 computer and they turned it over to a collection agency and my credit is shot to hell all because of a stupid non-working computer.. Something needs to be done about this situation

Computers are a real pain when they don't work, almost as bad as cars. But I get a kick out of your statement about everything stopped working as soon as warranty was up. What, you think they spent millions engineering a way to this happen? Amazing technology! LOL.

And how can you owe $2,100 on a $999 computer? I know how, you never made any payments. You may think you're "showing Gateway" by not making your payments but you're only hurting yourself. LOL again. Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me.
