I purchased a Gateway Media 601S MC Computer. And I was having issue with the sound. The sound stop working. So I decided to order services through Answers by Gateway Tech support since it was out of warranty. They now have two levels of services. I chose the one for $129.99 and that only gives you 90 minutes. O.k. Before even ordering I was not aware that it was non refundable. All I was told that the issue I was having with my machine that it will be taking care of. And it wasn't.O.k. the sound on the computer stop working all of a sudden.I don't why but it just stop.So I'm not able to listen to music, videos, etc. There is no sound coming from the speakers.O.k. the tech hardly did any trouble shooting. He only did the basic.Which was nothing. All he did was go into device manager to see if the driver for the sound was missing. He said that I would have to buy a sound card. But that hardly wasn't no troubleshooting. He just assumed that I would need a new sound card. And I was very, very, very disappointed by the results. That was just a quickie in my opinion! I already did what he did. That wasn't no troubleshooting! For $129.99 to gone waste. This is a rip off. $129.99 for 90 mins. Half of the the time was being wasted I'm sorry to say.I was not happy with the results. I call and asked to speak to a supervisor for a refund and they decline to refund me back so since they won't refund me my money I'm gonna take this to court! I don't have money to be throwing away on something that was so simple that I could of have someone look at it for no charge. They shouldn't even be no charge just for something simple like that. That's ridiculous! That's a straight rip off

Sound card issues

I understand that you thought this kind of issue can be solved with an online repair but that is not always the case. The tech did what he could from a remote location. Your drivers were there, and hopefully your sound was not turned off. He cannot inspect your card nor try another card over the internet. Since you were out of warranty, it would have made more sense to go to a local shop. In that environment, you would have gotten a satisfactory resolution as the kind of diagnostics needed to fully follow through would have been available to the tech. Your frustration is valid but you need to understand remote repairs have some severe limits!
