Irritating mistake, yet correctable

If you paid off your auto loan and it is still showing up on your credit report as an outstanding loan, you have several options to have this corrected.
1)Call the bank and ask for them to submit a lien release on your vehicle and also to submit a corrected report to all credit reporting agencies.
2)Submit a dispute in writing to the bank's credit reporting department.
3)Submit a dispute in writing to the credit reporting agencies directly and they will contact the bank and mediate for you.
If you find it necessary to file a dispute in writing please keep in mind that you will not get a response unless you specifically ask for one. In your dispute letter, ask for a mailed or faxed response. Also, ask that a corrected credit report be sent to you once your correction is made.
I hope that you find this helpful.
