Firestone has been taking care of my car sine 23 miles. At 87,000 miles the engine went out. Firestone topped the oil off in October and my engine went out in January. No mention of oil leaks or nothing! My engine was bone dry per the dealer, which shouldn't be the case since my engine is contained. Called Firestone, they put me in a rental why they investigated, that was January, its now almost May and I can't reach them for over 2 weeks now for an update!

Firestone has taken care of my vehicle from when I first brought it. With 23 miles.. At 87,000 miles my engine went out due to no oil .... Mind you I took my car in for maintenance in October in which Firestone topped off oil and recognized everything as AOK so in December engine was bone dry... Per Firestone I was assured everything was being handled until a guy from eneterptise rent a car stated Firestone would not be paying for rental anymore... And their has been no mention from Firestone when the repairs will be done...Left high and dry by fireston

So 2-3 months after you had them "top off" your oil, they are all of the sudden responsible for your engine going out at 87,000 miles.  If they offer to cover ANYTHING with the engine consider yourself lucky and take it.  If they are covering your rental during this time, consider yourself VERY lucky.  Perhaps that long term relationship paid off because most mechanics would tell you to go "pound sand".

Seriously though, after that much time since the last service there is no telling what could have happened with the engine or any of the parts.  Not to mention that if your engine was leaking oil you should have seen the signs.  Such as oil spots on the ground, your warning lights on your console telling you there is an issue with low oil, or if you see something like a lot more oil being burnt when you drive.

If you say that there was none of that, then unfortunatly the default is that you just ignored the signs as your engine would not have lasted that long with no oil in it.
