The following company (representative) called us looking for a fashion designer. We are a news web site. We do not hire designers, or have them work for us (we hire writers and editors, etc). The individual in question told the Editor-n-Chief of FashionWindows.Com, Inc. that she represents the Federal Government of the United States and demanded that the editor confirm a designers address. After the phone call, the editor asked me to check into the information from the phone call. I did some checking and found the following information based on the telephone number that was used to call us (678-937-5040):

Reverse Telephone Lookup response:
Financial Asset Management
1967 Lakeside Pkwy
Tucker, GA 30084

This is OBVIOUS fraud. This company needs to be fined to the extent that it puts them out of business. We do not need this kind of business operating inside the U.S.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Tom:

FAMS is a collection agency and they have just violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by telling you that they are affiliated with the government.

The fraud can be stopped, but requires some assistance from your company. Please take the time to 1) memorialize in writing any conversations had with this company, 2) contact the person they were looking for and inform them of what transpired and what was said, then 3) tell them they have grounds for a FEDERAL lawsuit and have them contact a NACA attorney to get one started.

In the meantime, have them file a complaint with the FTC, and the Georgia Attorney General's office.

Only if we start fighting back will this kind of idiocy end.
