A few weeks ago, I got a thing in the mail telling me that one of my poems had won me a place in the 11th Annual Famous Poets Society Convention during September 3rd--5th, 2005 in Reno, NV.

It claimed I was eligible for the Shakespeare Trophy of Excellence and that I was a Famous Poet of 2005. When I added up all the prices, though, it would cost me and my mom (I'm 17, so she'd have to go) about $1800 in fees. That's if we drove there, because we live between Chico and Sacramento, so it only takes us a couple hours to get to Reno.

However, I couldn't find the poem I wrote ANYWHERE. I thought I had thrown it away or something...but the more I looked online the more I got worried.

I started to look for more info about the Famous Poets Society, and it looks like theres a giant mix of people that got ripped off by them and claim that they are a giant scam and have tons of proof and people that have been with this poet society gig forever and had no problems, won a bunch of money/stuff, and are doing great. I don't know which side to believe!!!!!! I mean, I'm not going to waste close to $2000 if it's a scam. I'm not THAT obsessed. I just want to know already.
