EIG is the owner of several well known web hosting companies, including one that I have used for the past 10+ years called HostExcellence.

A few months ago I receved an email stating that HostExcellence was being sold, and that all of my 17 websites would be migrated free of charge to another hosting company called Site5.  A few weeks ago I received another email stating that my account would not be migrated to Site5 and no reason was given.  My only option was to find another web hosting copany on my own.  They did offer a discount code which was valid with another hosting company, HostGator, which EIG also owns.

HostGator was unable to offer me a similar account to what I had with HostExcellence.  They could oly offer a much more expensive VPS plan which I did not need.  In the end I chose another independent hosting company not owned by EIG.

HostExcellence would not allow the new host access to download the cPanel or email accounts from my HostExcellence account.  My only alternative was to pay for each domain to be migrated to the new host, and to backup and reinstall many different email addresses by hand to the new host.

The tme, money and angst this has caused are significant.  I highly recommend all internet users to not use any hosting company that is owned by EIG.  This includes HostGator, BlueHost, Site5 and several others.
