I purchased a emachines computer (they are now owned by Gateway) in November. Less than 30 days later, I mailed my rebate forms with the appropriate UPC codes, receipts, etc. However, emachines rejected my refund stating that I did not postmark it within the 30 days.

I have contacted Gateway and emachines. They have not responded. I emailed the company that handles the rebates. They did not respond.

Where is my $50 rebate that I was promised????

I have talked to others who have received rejections for the same reason (even though they mailed them in time), and I have read where other people have had the same problems with emachines and Gateway.

I believe the the retailers (in this case Circuit City), should stop advertising these rebates. I believe that the FCC should stop Gateway/emachines from advertising.

This is an old fashioned "bait and switch," which is illegal.

I warn everybody out there---do not by items by emachines or Gateway expecting to receive a rebate. Either expect to pay the actual price (without rebate), or do not buy from them at all!
