As I am reading all of these posts on EarthLink, I laugh at the people who are standing up for the company that both my husband and I worked for. They do rip you off. They also tell you what internet options you have in your area when you first call. They will tell you that DSL is available for you, if their computer system says it is, and send you all the equipment.

When you find out that it doesn't work and you call in, they try to make you think it is your fault. If they do happen to tell you someone will be sent out, they are lying. They NEVER send people to homes.

After a couple of months of back and forth crap from them they will let you know you now have to fulfill the obligations of the contract, which I noticed someone said to read the fine print, hahahahahaa! Their fine print that matters doesn't come until after you finish the sale and you receive their installation kits for DSL.

Almost the only thing they tell you is how much it will cost a month and what the termination fee is. For the most part, once you open the box they send you, you are pretty much under contract. I have seen very few successful attempts to get out of the contract. Mostly only businesses can pull off getting out of the contract.

As for us regular people we are stuck dealing with this type of company more times than we should.
