Complaint Review: Eagle Moving Group

Eagle Moving Group Took advantage of me and were unclear about the nature of their business and terms Boynton Beach Florida

I am young - perhaps naive - and trying to plan my first big move, so I did some searching online and somehow found a website that claimed to compare moving company quotes (I didn't realize that what it would actually do is share my information with several companies who proceeded to insitently pester me). I was first contacted by an Eagle Moving Group representative, Philip, who seemed very earnest and kind; I was unsure about booking with them right then and there but he offered to knock off $100 from the quote if I were to do so. Foolishly, but only after being assured that they were providing me with the lowest price out there, I agreed.

I saw that using a credit card would add a 5% processing fee to the lofty $790 deposit I was already straining to come up with, so - once again foolishly - I gave them the information to directly withdraw from my checking account.

Within the same day of signing on with Eagle Moving Group, I decided to cancel. I was under the impression that I was within the allotted 72 hour cancellation window AND I had cancelled 16 days in advance when I thought the deadline was 14 days before. But when I contacted customer service, I was told that the fine print states that a cancellation must be made within 72 hours and 14 BUSINESS days (not just days) before the move. Nonetheless this was confusing seeing as they obviously operate on the weekends - seems like a business day to me.

The initial deposit is now being held by them. I would be able to put it towards a future move with Eagle Moving Group, however, after reading other reviews I have realized that this "business" is not even a moving company but a moving brokerage! This was surely not made clear to me.

I am unsure why a third party would ever be needed to make a move with so many channels of communication available between movers and REAL moving companies. I don't think moving brokerages should be allowed to exist as viable operations, but seeing as they are, there should be some formal protocol to indicate to consumers what they are actually signing on for. I have seen countless other similar testimonials, written by other victims who fell for the hard sell and rushed sign-on process.

I have never, and I mean never, felt so taken advantage off.

I just spoke with Craig and he was incredibly kind and understanding. Turns out, he was out of office which is why no one was able to help me.

After speaking with him, my perspective of the company has changed and I really do think they care about customer satisfaction. Things just got a little muddled during COVID.

I would recommend this business to friends.
