2 scruffy white males about 20 y/o rolled down their window next to me at a stoplight and yelled that they had some extra stereo speakers. They said they had some extras leftover from a delivery but couldn't return the truck with stuff in it since they were "bonded couriers" and could lose their jobs (although it was a passenger SUV or something -- not a real delivery truck).

They said they didn't have any cash, but had 2 pairs of speakers and if they could sell 1 pair to me, then they'd have money to get a motel so they could hide the other pair and sell them on e-bay.

They waved me over to a parking lot and they opened the back of the truck. They opened a box and pulled out a big, heavy speaker. They showed me some catalog with a list price of $1,599 per speaker. Since I had never heard of Dogg Digital Audio or the magazine I was leery.

Unfortunately, I was more greedy than cautious and went to an ATM. I gave them $360 for the speakers. Since I'm in the process of moving, I haven't tried the speakers, but from what others are saying, the speakers will probably make better coffee table supports than speakers. Rats.
