This concerns Desert Lane Care Center in Las Vegas

My grandmother had been there a year and bed ridden
She was bleeding from her stomach ulcer because they gave her too much medication and my cousin happened to be there and asked for help for hrs while she threw up

So she went to Valley Hospital Las Vegas for care.
My father said they keep getting calls from these institutions to pay the bills.

My aunt just recieved a letter to pay the bill today which Valley hospital where she is at now and they cut her off last week for $26,000
Valley hospital is at $1000 a day

Senior Dimensions she has and Medicaid
Still has culinary insurance and pension but very little money
She's had that for decades
$1200 a month
$5000 a month at Desert Lane, which is incredible in itself as they don't keep that place too sanitary

He said him and one aunt of mine are getting the threats from these places
My aunt was told that they would put a lien on her property and seize her property if she didnt come up with the money
Their saying that she's their mother and its their responsibility, etc

An attorney friend said they are not liable to pay

So as you can see for middle income people thats quite hefty

Now they have her on morphine, probably to shut her up as my grandmother has quite the temper sometimes
Very upset at whats going on

Dr Osawa is the prescribing dr

And Desert Lane urine odor is very strong

Its unbearable

she tube feeds and cant go to the bathroom on her own

my family has been paying for the bills but are getting out of hand

What can we do ?

Thanks as always

Alan

I found the BBB has not had a complaint in 3 yrs

But found something here
http://www.memberofthefamily.net/watch/295017.htm
where there was at least 1 incedent

Keep safe, clean and homelike surroundings an F grade
Try to resolve each resident's complaints quickly. D grade

Make sure that residents receive treatment/services to continue to be able to care for themselves, unless a change is unavoidable. D grade

Give each resident care and services to get or keep the highest quality of life possible. D grade

Make sure that residents with reduced range of motion get proper treatment and services to increase range of motion. D grade

Have enough nurses to care for every resident in a way that maximizes the resident's well being. H grade which is very bad

Keep accurate and appropriate medical records. F grade
Develop a complete care plan that meets all of a resident's needs, with timetables and actions that can be measured. E grade

Make sure that a working call system is available in each resident's room or bathroom and bathing area. E grade - I have called twice to get poor communication with the lines

Have a program to keep infection from spreading. D grade
Immediately tell the resident, doctor, and a family member if: the resident is injured, there is a major change in resident's physical/mental health, there is a need to alter treatment significantly, or the resident must be transferred or d D grade

Give residents proper treatment to prevent new bed (pressure) sores or heal existing bed sores. H grade
Provide clean bed and bath linens that are in good condition. F grade

Give or get special rehabilitation if in the patient's plan of care. D grade

Store, cook, and give out food in a safe and clean way. E grade

This is pure abuse and needs to be dealt with
In 2003 and 2004 there have been incedents
They hadnt been inspected for 4 years

Thats incredible
With this type of rating that they got?

Shady care from Desert Lane and Valley hospital Vegas

#2Author of original report

My grandmother was staying here and she was bleeding from an aggravated ulcer that was caused due to too much medicine and she was bleeding from 5pm till 3am until someone got to help her and needed to go to Valley hospital Vegas for her bleeding stomach and they won't let her back in

She has Medicaid insurance and no money and 82 yrs old. My father said that they want to sue also the family members for the bills

Its terrible in there. You can smell strong odors of urine thats unbearable. She is also bed ridden. She had Medicare but that dropped.
My family has been paying for the bills but are getting out of hand. She tube feeds and cant go to the bathroom on her own

Senior Dimensions she has and Culinary union insurance. My aunt was told that they would put a lien on her property and seize her property if she didnt come up with the money

An attorney friend said they cannot do that
-
I would recommend you call the Governor's office of consumer health assistance.
They are terrificthe agency was formed to help families just like yours.

Their number is 702-486-3587.

I really think they can help.

If I can offer you any additional information, please let me know.

Sincerely,
