I also found a mysterious charge from CIC Credit Monitoring on my MC bill. I called them up and got someone with very broken english who promptly asked for my CC# - Absolutely not I told her. So, she asked for my name which I gave her. She could not find an account under my name even after verifying the spelling 3 times.

So, I called MC and was transferred to the dispute dept. I'd like to make something clear - everybody I spoke with at MC was very aware of CIC, and had the same tone in their voice when I mentioned it. So, I was connected with a very helpful dispute rep who put me on hold and contacted CIC. I swear to got he got the same person I spoke with.

Neither of us could understand her. Anyway, somehow I had magically gained an account (remember, just minutes before I had no account). She kept asking me to log on to view my information.

If you are asked to do this DO NOT! Be firm and let them know you want the money refunded, and the account closed. I did, and she complied. When she hung up, the MC rep told me I did exactly what I should have - logging on is not helpful to your case. Be firm - demand that these crooks are shut down!
